This policy explains what personal data Vinfo.app ("Vinfo", "we", "us", "our") collects when you visit our website or use our vehicle history and AI-powered maintenance insight service, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to visitors, registered users, dealer accounts, and anyone who contacts us.
Vinfo.app is operated by Bridge IT Solutions, St. Helens, Merseyside, England, United Kingdom. [04777540]
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, phone number (if provided) and password. Passwords are stored as a salted hash; we never store them in plain text.
- Sign-in information — if you use "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Facebook", the provider shares your name, email address and account identifier with us.
- Vehicle enquiry data — the registration numbers you search, the type of check you request (SMART Check or Full Check), and the vehicle, MOT and history data we retrieve on your behalf.
- Payment information — purchases are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and a reference ID; we never receive or store your full card number, expiry date or CVV.
- Communications — messages sent through our contact form, blog comments you post (name, email and comment text), newsletter sign-ups, and support correspondence.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, and general usage patterns, collected through server logs and, where you've consented, analytics cookies.
- Cookies — see the Cookies section below.

Our legal basis for processing
We process your data under UK GDPR on the following bases: contract (to create your account and provide the checks you request), consent (analytics and marketing cookies, and the newsletter), legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, preventing fraud, and improving our product), and legal obligation (record-keeping for tax and accounting purposes).
Who we share your information with
We share personal data with the following categories of recipient, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Stripe — to process payments.
- Mailjet — to deliver transactional and newsletter emails.
- Google — for Google Sign-In, website analytics, and Gemini AI, which powers our predictive maintenance insights.
- Meta (Facebook) — for Facebook Sign-In, where you choose to use it.
- Microsoft Azure — for hosting, file storage, and automated moderation of blog comments.
- DVLA and DVSA — the UK government agencies whose public vehicle and MOT records we query using the registration number you provide.
- Our vehicle data provider — for outstanding finance, write-off and stolen-vehicle checks.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
International transfers
Some of our service providers (including Google, Meta and Stripe) may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.
Cookies
We use three categories of cookie, which you can control through the cookie banner shown when you first visit the site:
- Necessary — required for the site to function and always on.
- Analytics — help us understand how the site is used, only set with your consent.
- Marketing — used for advertising and marketing purposes, only set with your consent.
How long we keep your data
We retain account and payment records for as long as your account is active and as required by tax and accounting law. Vehicle enquiry history is kept as part of your account so you can refer back to past reports. Blog comments awaiting moderation are retained until reviewed. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time, subject to what we're legally required to keep.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete your data ("the right to be forgotten").
- Ask us to restrict how we use your data.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, for anything we process on the basis of consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children's privacy
Vinfo.app is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18.
How we protect your data
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.
